Philippines: Typhoon Rai

On 15 December 2021, tropical depression Twenty-Eight intensified over the western Pacific into typhoon Rai (locally known as Odette). Over 780,000 people were affected by the typhoon and have received some form of support or assistance. 400,000 people require urgent relief and long-term support.

Peru: Earthquake in the Amazon region

On 28 November 2021, an earthquake occurred in the district of Barranca, Datem del Marañón province, department of Loreto. Over 5,100 houses, 518 schools, and 71 hospitals were affected. The earthquake has destroyed several roads and caused the Utcubamba River to overflow.

Migration crisis on the Belarus-Poland border

Thousands of migrants have been arriving to the Belarusian border since July 2021. As at 13 November, an estimated 20,000 migrants and asylum seekers are present in Belarus. At least 5,000 people are stuck on the Poland-Belarus border without adequate access to services or assistance.
