ACAPS’ Humanitarian Access Overview provides a snapshot of the most challenging contexts for humanitarian access globally. In the first half of 2022, the indicators ‘environmental constraints’, ‘restriction and obstruction to services and assistance’, and ‘restriction of movements within the country’ were the most common challenges throughout all crises and scored highest among the considered indicators.

This report provides an oblast-level analysis of access constraints in Ukraine to inform humanitarian responders and provide a comparison of access dynamics across different oblasts. This analysis is based on a severity model developed by ACAPS using the internal data collection of publicly available secondary sources as at 20 June 2022. Key informant interviews also complement this model.

This report outlines the living conditions and needs of migrants and asylum seekers stranded in the Poland-Belarus border area as a result of a political crisis and migration policies. It is an update of a similar ACAPS report published in December 2021.

On 22 June 2022, an earthquake of magnitude 5.9 on the Richter scale hit eastern Afghanistan, around 46km southwest of Khost city. The earthquake has caused damage in Paktika and Khost provinces, and has killed at least 1,000 people and injured over 1,600. 

Non-state armed groups have launched an offensive in the north of the country to take advantage of the current context of political instability, the withdrawal of military troops from conflict zones, and the weakness of the UN stabilisation mission in Mali. Sri Lanka faces an economic crisis partly resulting from its twin deficit economy. The economic crisis is affecting the daily life of the population. Hospitals have reported shortages of medicines, price increases have made food unaffordable for part of the population, and some people have already started to migrate to India to escape the effects of the crisis. 

Fire broke out at a container facility on the night of 4 June 2022 at Sonaichari union, Sitakunda upazila, 40km from the port city of Chattogram (formerly Chittagong). The fire triggered multiple explosions, killing at least 41 people, including 12 firefighters, and injuring at least 300 others.

This report aims to inform international humanitarian responders about the national and local systems and the local response within Ukraine. The report relies on the secondary data review of public and non-public sources and 77 key informant interviews.

Approximately 3.5 million people have arrived in Poland from Ukraine since 24 February 2022. This number corresponds to roughly 53% of the 6.5 million people who have fled Ukraine because of the war. Although many Ukrainians choose Poland, it is uncertain how many migrants and refugees intend to stay in Poland and how many have already moved to other locations.

This research aims to provide humanitarians with a qualitative understanding of how ordinary Yemeni households cope with the challenges brought about and accentuated by war. The study is built on the assumption that people’s own stories would enhance the understanding of coping strategies and how they have changed.

On 1 April 2022, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg announced that the main warring parties had agreed to a two-month truce starting 2 April, to last until 2 June 2022. The truce includes a halt to air, ground, and maritime hostilities within Yemen and across borders.

This report explores the reasons behind the increasing practice of polygamy and the protection implications of polygamous marriages in the Rohingya camps. It also analyses reports of increasing intercommunity polygamy between the Rohingya and the adjacent host community, potentially raising additional protection concerns different from existing intracommunity protection concerns.

The primary objective of this report is to determine the impact that the easing of disruption to commercial fuel imports via Al Hodeidah since January 2021 would have on fuel prices in areas under the control of the de-facto authority (DFA) in the north of Yemen, and in areas of the Internationally Recognized Government of Yemen (IRG). 

As at 28 March 2022, more than four million people had crossed international borders since the start of the hostilities in Ukraine on 24 February 2022. The rapid influx of migrants and refugees into the country has already posed a challenge to reception capacities, which the Hungarian Government has reduced in recent years to discourage migration.
