The SIMP report identifies events and themes emerging from information on Yemen between January–March that have had or are likely to have a social impact. The report aims to support the understanding of the groups and categories of people in Yemen facing the greatest challenges in meeting needs and those most vulnerable to protection concerns.

On 22 June 2022, an earthquake of magnitude 5.9 on the Richter scale hit eastern Afghanistan, around 46km southwest of Khost city. The earthquake has caused damage in Paktika and Khost provinces, and has killed at least 1,000 people and injured over 1,600.

Sri Lanka faces an economic crisis partly resulting from its twin deficit economy. The economic crisis is affecting the daily life of the population. Hospitals have reported shortages of medicines, price increases have made food unaffordable for part of the population, and some people have already started to migrate to India to escape the effects of the crisis. 

Fire broke out at a container facility on the night of 4 June 2022 at Sonaichari union, Sitakunda upazila, 40km from the port city of Chattogram (formerly Chittagong). The fire triggered multiple explosions, killing at least 41 people, including 12 firefighters, and injuring at least 300 others.

Approximately 3.5 million people have arrived in Poland from Ukraine since 24 February 2022. This number corresponds to roughly 53% of the 6.5 million people who have fled Ukraine because of the war. Although many Ukrainians choose Poland, it is uncertain how many migrants and refugees intend to stay in Poland and how many have already moved to other locations.

On 1 April 2022, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg announced that the main warring parties had agreed to a two-month truce starting 2 April, to last until 2 June 2022. The truce includes a halt to air, ground, and maritime hostilities within Yemen and across borders.
