This report shares findings from the Humanitarian Experts Network’s third global survey launched on 20 April 2020. 

This report provides an update to previous ACAPS reports that explore measures adopted by governments in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which can be found here. Our reports are a component of ACAPS’ broader effort to monitor the secondary impacts of the pandemic and are based on publicly available data assembled by our team through a wide scanning of information across the globe.

Heavy rains since April 13 led to flooding, displacement, severe infrastructure damage and casualties across Yemen. 14 governorates were affected. Sana’a city, Sana’a, Ma’rib, Aden, and Lahj governorates reported the most significant impact.

This thematic report presents an analysis of publicly available secondary data on safe and dignified burials in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic including an overview of burial practices and traditions among the Rohingya, 

This analysis is focused on how low- and middle-income countries are vulnerable to containment measures. This is a first-step analysis product, which will shape ACAPS country and regional case studies that will look into some of these issues in greater depth.

A presidential decree on 5 August 2019 revoked Articles 370 and 35A of the Indian Constitution, which granted Jammu and Kashmir state special autonomous status. The move stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its political autonomy and was accompanied by a complete lockdown, unprecedented in Kashmir’s history, that began in August 2019 and continued through March 2020.

This report explores how refugees and other displaced populations are affected by COVID-19 government measures, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

This report aims to support the humanitarian response in Colombia to understand how government measures mitigate the epidemic impact on vulnerable population groups; what are their factors of vulnerability in relation to the measures; which humanitarian needs are likely to arise in the short to medium term. The primary focus of the analysis is on Colombian internally displaced people, Venezuelan refugees and migrants.

The primary purpose of this report is to inform strategic humanitarian decision-making through an understanding of the possible changes in needs for humanitarian assistance and possible constraints in meeting these needs.

This series of reports is based on focus group discussions and Key Informant Interviews with Rohingya living across Ukhia and Teknaf Camps. The objective of these consultations is to ensure Rohingya’s voices are included in all stages of the COVID-19 response and provide an avenue for Rohingya refugees to express their questions and concerns. 

COVID-19 is yet to be confirmed in Yemen, however, the likelihood of its spread is high as cases in surrounding countries continue to grow. The country’s infrastructure has been devastated by five years of conflict, leaving little capacity to respond. Only 51% of health centres are fully functional. Current conflict escalation, displacement and overcrowding make it difficult to implement protection measures.

Sierra Leone reported its first two confirmed case of COVID-19 on 30 March and 02 April. Sierra Leone was one of the last West African countries having no confirmed cases although it was one of the only countries in Africa having COVID-19 testing prior to the global outbreak.

The escalation of insurgent activities in Mozambique’s northernmost province of Cabo Delgado is deteriorating the humanitarian situation of affected populations in the area. More than 11 of the 16 districts in the province have witnessed incessant attacks, about 350 since October 2017, with a significant rise in the death toll. 

ACAPS has conducted a Quick Impact Survey as part of its efforts to better understand the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and its impact on current humanitarian operations. The responses covered at least 52 different countries of operation, not including single answers for multiple countries, regional responses, or headquarters.

The purpose of this report is to support humanitarian responders in understanding the current perceptions of healthcare, the impact of these perceptions on health seeking behaviour and the direct implications these perceptions and behaviours have on the ability to respond to, and control, a COVID-19 outbreak in the Rohingya refugee camps.

This biannual report outlines the main emerging risks in Yemen that might affect the current humanitarian situation (6-month forecast). It aims to inform the humanitarian community of possible changes in context and humanitarian needs in Yemen, in order to facilitate contingency planning, risk management, and response.
