The Social Impact Monitoring Report for April–June 2021 is intended to develop better insights on the vulnerability of people to social and economic risks in Yemen and the impact these risks may have. This report is produced regularly at approximately 6-week intervals and supports monitoring of changes that have been identified over time.

This report aims to provide an overview of the recent developments related to the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan against the key trends in conflict and humanitarian needs reported in 2021.

This thematic report examines the impact of this crisis through the three profiles of the worst affected departments. It also analyses existing data on pre-crisis vulnerabilities and humanitarian access constraints at the departmental level.

The Internationally Recognized Government of Yemen suspended fuel imports through Al Hodeidah port in June 2020 and has since permitted only limited and occasional imports via this route. 

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Haiti. Most affected departments include Sud, Grand’Anse, and Nippes, with Les Cayes, Aquin, Cavaillon, Petite-Rivière-de-Nippes, and Anse-a-Veau arrondissements known to be particularly affected and exposed to severe shaking.

It outlines the birth registration process, the procedural changes made since 2020, and what these changes mean for host community children and adults in Cox’s Bazar. 

This report focuses on the (unlikely but possible) scenario in which the Houthis take full control of Marib city and governorate. It includes displacement estimates related to increased conflict in Marib and the impact of revenue loss from Marib resources on the economy of the IRG.

On 1 July, a phreatomagmatic eruption was recorded from the main crater of the Taal Volcano, approximately 70km south of central Manila. High levels of volcanic sulfur dioxide emissions and steam-rich plumes were generated from the main crater. The Taal Volcano island is currently considered a danger zone. 

ACAPS Humanitarian Access Overview provides a snapshot of the most challenging contexts for humanitarian access. Crisis-affected populations in more than 60 countries are not receiving the humanitarian assistance they need because of access constraints. Seven new countries – Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Senegal, Spain, and Timor-Leste – have entered the ranking since the last release in December 2020.

An increase in gang violence and criminal activity in Haiti since 1 June 2021 has been affecting around one-third of the territory of Port-au-Prince. Southern neighbourhoods are the most affected.

This report provides an overview of the recent conflict escalation in the State of Palestine and highlights humanitarian needs in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip by analysing current needs, humanitarian constraints, underlying vulnerabilities, and aggravating factors that could lead to further hostilities.

On 25 May, a severe cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards and intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm. The storm affected around 10 million people in West Bengal and 1.7 million people in Odisha. Over 2.2 million people were evacuated to relief camps in both states.

Mount Nyiragongo erupted on 22 May 2021near the city of Goma, in the east of DRC. At least 25,000 people were displaced in Sake, 25 km northwest of Goma, and 7,000 travelled towards neighbouring Rwanda to seek refuge. 

Between March–May 2021, above-normal temperatures are expected in most subdivisions in north, northwest, and northeast India. Over 20 million people in Maharashtra State live in densely populated informal constructions. These people are more vulnerable to heatwaves and heat-related illnesses, as the materials used in building construction increase their exposure to heat.

This report aims to inform humanitarian decisions and planning by summarising key developments that affected the humanitarian situation in Yemen in 2020 and highlighting issues to watch in 2021.

This report provides a broad understanding of the current situation in Myanmar, highlighting significant developments and the associated needs and access constraints, as well as how humanitarian operations have adapted, particularly in regions with pre-existing needs. 

This report by ACAPS and IOM's Communicating with Communities unit is a large qualitative study exploring how Rohingya refugees have experienced the humanitarian response in Cox's Bazar, with a focus on accountability within the response. It explores recurrent themes within the response and concludes with recommendations from the participants for different sectors within the response.

ACAPS has developed a risk-monitoring framework which is updated daily with significant events. Every month, ACAPS analysts and technical experts, including economists and anthropologists, review the current development of indicators collectively and update the risk outlook. This is an update of the Yemen risk overview published in December 2020.
