Mozambique is experiencing the lasting effects of extreme climate, weather conditions and ongoing conflict. Most of southern Mozambique is facing drought like conditions for the third consecutive year, coupled with above-average rainfall resulting in a 70% decrease in average crop production. Current food prices are also above average.? 

In Cabo Delgado, continued violence has impacted food insecurity with thousands displaced unable to access their typical livelihood activities. The total number of people facing Crisis food insecurity (IPC Phase 3) is 200,000 with access and information gaps severely impacting a proper assessment.?

Countrywide, more than 1 million people face crisis food insecurity (IPC Phase 3) with almost 200,000 people with emergency food insecurity (IPC Phase 4).?
