Report on the IFRC/ACAPS Needs Assessments Training A training course on Multi-Sectoral Needs Assessments was conducted by ACAPS for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in March 2012. As a first pilot this training brought together about 25 IFRC members. Both the Federation and ACAPS will explore opportunities to further develop their cooperation. Report on the Training of Trainers ECB together with ACAPS conducted a Training of Trainers in Field Data Collection for Humanitarian Needs Assessmentsin Somalia, 19-21 March 2012. This was the response to the request of the humanitarian community in Somalia to support the development of an internal capacity to deliver trainings in Needs Assessment due to the ever changing security environment. |

Niger Food Crisis ACAPS supported ECB in conducting a joint needs assessment in Niger related to the food security situation. According to this field study published in March 2012 and undertaken in communities in western and eastern Niger, between 70 and 90 per cent of people estimate their food stocks will run out before the next harvest. Central African Republic In collaboration with the FAO, ACAPS conducted an information mapping for the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, IPC in Central African Republic. The report highlights some challenges and present some recommendations to address them. A similar exercise will be undertaken in Djibouti in June. |
