The ACAPS roster can, upon request, be deployed to support in-country assessment processes before, during and after crises.
ACAPS supports two types of deployments:
- assessment preparedness and
- real-time assessment in context of sudden-onset disasters and complex emergencies.
The roster is always deployed through the existing humanitarian architecture, providing an additional coordination and analysis capacity. This brings together ongoing cluster or agency-specific assessment initiatives to ensure that the overall assessment process is as coordinated and comprehensive as possible.
Both assessment preparedness and real-time assessment deployments have a significant element of capacity development of local stakeholders and structures including the HCT, national government and civil society. Host government and/or local authority participation in all assessment and assessment preparedness activities is essential and emphasis will be placed on fostering sustainable country-level capacity to undertake future assessments.
