The Syria Crisis

Syria DNA (update), December
A Disaster Needs Analysis on Syria concerning the present conflict was published on the 22nd of December 2012.

The Kenya Initial Rapid Assessment – KIRA
Following on from the Horn of Africa drought response in 2011, the Kenya Humanitarian Partner Team identified a gap in terms of coordinated rapid assessments among humanitarian actors in the country. ACAPS has been supporting an initiative launched by OCHA, UNICEF and the Emergency Capacity Building project, to put into place a multi-sector, multi-agency rapid assessment mechanism to address this gap.

The Syria crisis: ACAPS and MapAction activities.
The Syria Needs Analysis Project (SNAP) is a partnership between ACAPS and MapAction. The objective of the project is to support the humanitarian response by providing an independent analysis of the humanitarian situation of those affected by the Syrian crisis.

Maze
ACAPS has created an on-line Community of Practice Platform called the Maze which we hope will be populated by people with with bright ideas on needs assessment.

The first of a series of webinars planned for the future took place on the 27th of February.Presented by Professor Richard Garfield the subject covered future approaches to assessment. All webinars will be recorded and posted online on the Maze.
